Sergio Tofano

1886-1973. This Roman-born actor, author, director and cartoonist signed himself off as “Sto”. A draughtsman with a highly refined drawing style, he worked in advertising, fashion, and for “Il Corriere dei Piccoli”, Italy’s leading twentieth-century children’s magazine. Signor Bonaventura, a character he invented whose tale is told in a one-page, self-contained story, has lived for so many years he has gone down in history. Tofano also wrote Il romanzo delle mie delusioni, a children’s novel interwoven with fairy tales.
