Pesaro, 1993
Michael Bardeggia attended the "F. Mengaroni" Art School in Pesaro, then graduating from the Urbino Academy of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and Art Graphics. His illustrations and engravings quickly received recognition and awards in Italy and abroad. In 2020, he was selected for two important events: The Bologna Children's Book Fair Illustrators Exhibition, and the Golden Pinweel, Young Illustrators Competition, at the China International Children's Book Fair. Michael published his first book of illustrations of Scandinavian stories in 2018 with the Treviso-based publishing house Aurelia edizioni. After that, the publisher Arka commissioned illustrations for two classic works: The Wizard of Oz and the works of Dante, both topics that have been illustrated by many artists. Although adopting the classic picturebook format, Michael’s illustrations are fresh personal interpretations of well-known subjects.
