Milan, 1993
After graduating in Visual Arts from the Brescia Academy of Fine Arts, Lorenzo Sangiò devoted himself to Illustration and sought opportunities for growth by attending workshops around Italy. In 2016, his first publication won the "Battello a vapore" award. In 2017, it was the turn of the "Notte da fiaba" prize, which led to the publication by Orecchio Acerbo of his picturebook with illustrator Fabian Negrin, here the author. This artistic partnership gave rise to a powerful revisitation of Sherlock Holmes, again depicted with his iconic pipe. In 2018, Lorenzo exhibited in Sarmede and Paris. He attended the Ars in Fabula Master’s course and his thesis project was published in 2019 by the Milan-based publisher Carthusia, which published another of his works in 2020. In the same year, he won the "Illustrator of the Year" award promoted by Città del Sole, and illustrated their 2021 Calendar.
