Irene Penazzi graduated from the Bologna Academy of Fine Arts in Illustration for Publishing, afterwards spending a year at HAW in Hamburg on an Erasmus programme. In 2018, her debut book was published by the French publisher Maison Eliza, and the following year was included in the Terre di Mezzo catalogue. Since then, Irene has collaborated with many Italian and foreign publishers and received many international awards. She was selected for 2019 XII RAM Biennial of Young Artists of Romagna, for the 2020 International Illustration and Book Design Competition "Image of the Book", promoted by the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications with the Association of Book Illustrators and Designers of Moscow. On the IBBY Honour List in 2019, Irene participated in the artist residency in Bern for the project "A testa in su", promoted by the Hamelin Cultural Association Hamelin.
