Inês Viegas Oliveira

Inês Viegas Oliveira was born in 1995 in Tavira, Portugal. In an attempt to know everything, she took a degree in physics, but halfway through a master of mathematics she realized that she knew nothing. She therefore shifted into a post-grad program on Illustration at the UAL, which gave her some peace of mind. In 2020 and 2023 she was selected for the Illustrators Exhibition of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, while in 2022 she was one of its finalists. Inês has taken part in the European project “Every Story Matters,” which fosters inclusion through stories and books. In 2022, Planeta Tangerina published her first book emerging from this project, O Duelo, which won the National Illustration Award of Portugal in 2023. Inês operates between science and art, writing and reading, image and words, trying to break down certain boundaries. She continues to ask herself many questions, but from time to time she holds still, to write or to draw.
